- [USA](https://washingtoncentre.org/countries/usa/): A public accounting, an apology, compensation, and additional measures, such as potential criminal prosecutions for torture or enforced disappearance, are necessary to fully address the grave USA human rights violations that are inherent in forced family separations and guarantee that these wrongs never happen again. Any candidates for the second Trump administration who were previously involved in the formulation or implementation of the family separation policy should be rejected by the USA Senate using its advice and consent power. The action follows the Afghan government's decision to look into allegations that Kam Air was being utilized for drug smuggling on its own. The USA military said it will provide information on the drug-trafficking allegations to help the Afghan government's inquiry. It stated that once the Afghan government finished its inquiry, it would think about what should be done. Last month, the United States removed the airline from its list of possible military contractors because it was smuggling opium.
